Holland Township, New Jersey

Holland Township is a township located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 5,124.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 62.4 km² (24.1 mi²). 61.4 km² (23.7 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.62% water. Holland Township borders Alexandria Township, Bethlehem Township, and Milford Borough. Holland Township also borders Warren County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 5,124 people, 1,881 households, and 1,523 families residing in the township. The population density is 83.5/km² (216.2/mi²). There are 1,942 housing units at an average density of 31.6/km² (81.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.09% White, 0.43% African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. 1.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,881 households out of which 33.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.2% are married couples living together, 5.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.0% are non-families. 15.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.72 and the average family size is 3.06. In the township the population is spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 28.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.1 males. The median income for a household in the township is $68,083, and the median income for a family is $71,925. Males have a median income of $50,737 versus $35,615 for females. The per capita income for the township is $28,581. 2.2% of the population and 1.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.9% of those under the age of 18 and 3.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
