Holiday (Movie)

Holiday is a 1930 romantic comedy film which tells the story of a playboy who is torn between his free-thinking lifestyle and the tradition of his wealthy fiancee's family. It stars Ann Harding, Mary Astor, Edward Everett Horton, Robert Ames and Hedda Hopper. The movie was adapted by Horace Jackson from the play by Philip Barry. It was directed by Edward H. Griffith. It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Ann Harding) and Best Writing, Adaptation.
Holiday was also remade in 1938, starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Doris Nolan, Lew Ayres and Edward Everett Horton (playing the same role he had played in the 1930 version). It was adapted by Donald Ogden Stewart and Sidney Buchman, and was directed by George Cukor. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Art Direction.
