HockleyHockley is a town in Essex, England located between Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea and is included in the Domesday Book of 1066. It came to prominence during the coming of the railway in the 1890's and has a population of around 10,000 people where many are commuters to London. Hockley is an Old English name meaning a woodland clearing belonging to a man called Hocca and today there is still a large wooded area named Hockley woods. Notable buildings in the town include the St Peter and Paul twelfth century church with octagonal tower and a Victorian spa pump room which is a listed building. =) Hockley Parish Council
