south-west of
Ireland

14 October
1939
in company with the destroyers
Ivanhoe
and
Intrepid
and
U-63
in the
North Sea
while in company with the destroyer
Imogen
and the
submarine
Narwhal
on
25 February
1940
, and participated in the pursuit and destruction of the enemy German
battleship
Bismarck
in May
1941
.
HMS Inglefield
was struck by a
glider bomb
launched by a German Hs-293 airplane and sank off the
Anzio
beachhead in western
Italy
on
25 February
1944
