Hms Africa

Six ships of the British Royal Navy ships have been named HMS ''Africa'', after the continent of Africa. HMS Good Hope (launched 1901) was originally to be named Africa, but her name was changed prior to being launched. The name was also slated for two aircraft carriers cancelled with the end of the Second World War, firstly one of the Audacious class. When that ship was cancelled, the name was allocated to a member of the cancelled Malta class.
