Hmas Pirie

HMAS Pirie (J-189/B-249/A-123), named for the city of Port Pirie in South Australia, was a Bathurst class corvette built by the Broken Hill Propriety Shipyard at Whyalla in South Australia, launched on 3 December 1941 by Mrs. H. T. Kleeman, wife of the Whyalla superintendent of BHP, and commissioned on 10 October 1942. HMAS Pirie paid off on 5 April 1946, was transferred to Turkey and renamed Amasra. Pirie
