Hmas Gympie

HMAS Gympie (J-238/M-238), named for the city of Gympie, Queensland, was a Bathurst class corvette built by Evans Deakin and Company at Brisbane in Queensland, launched on 30 January 1942 by Mrs. A. J. Deakin, wife of the managing director, and commissioned on 4 November 1942. HMAS Gympie paid off to reserve on 23 May 1946, was sold for scrap on 6 January 1961 and broken up at Rozelle.
