Hmas Glenelg

HMAS Glenelg (J-236/M-236), named for the locality of Glenelg in South Australia, was a Bathurst class corvette laid down by the Cockatoo Docks and Engineering Company at Sydney in New South Wales on 2 March 1942, launched on 25 September 1942 by Mrs. H. V. Evatt, wife of Doctor H. V. Evatt, Minister for External Affairs, and commissioned on 16 November 1942. HMAS Glenelg paid off on 14 January 1946 and was sold for scrap to the Hong Kong Rolling Mills on 2 May 1957. Glenelg
