Hmas Geraldton

Two ships of the Royal Australian Navy have been named for the port of Geraldton in Western Australia.
The first HMAS Geraldton (J-178/B-242/A-116) was a Bathurst class corvette built by Poole and Steele at Balmain in New South Wales, launched on 16 August 1941 by Mrs. W. McKell, wife of the Premier of New South Wales, and commissioned on 6 April 1942. HMAS Geraldton paid off on 14 June 1946, was sold to the Turkish Navy on 24 August 1946 and renamed Antalya.
The second HMAS Geraldton is a Fremantle class patrol boat laid down by the North Queensland Engineers and Agents at Cairns in Queensland on 3 May 1982, launched on 22 October 1983 and commissioned on 10 December 1983. Geraldton
