Hmas Cessnock

Two ships of the Royal Australian Navy have borne the name Cessnock, for a town in New South Wales.
The first HMAS Cessnock (J-175/B-240/A-114) was a Bathurst class corvette laid down by Cockatoo Docks and Engineering at Sydney in New South Wales on 16 April 1941, launched on 17 October 1941 by Lady Gordon, wife of Sir Thomas Gordon, a director of the constructing firm, and commissioned on 26 January 1942. HMAS Cessnock paid off on 12 July 1946 and sold for scrap to the Nan Chiao Shipping and Salvage Company of Shanghai in China on 23 April 1947.
The second HMAS Cessnock (P-210) is a Fremantle class patrol boat laid down by the North Queensland Engineers and Agents at Cairns in Queensland on 9 March 1981, launched on 15 January 1983 and commissioned on 5 March 1983. Cessnock
