Hesperos

Henry Longfellow wrote an epic poem called The Wreck of the Hesperus. There is a large family of bats called Vesper bats in the family Vespertilionidae.
In Greek mythology, Hesperos (Greek Ἓσπερος, Sometimes Latinized as Hesperus) was a son of either Eos or Atlas. His Roman equivalent was Vesper. He is the personification of the evening star, the planet Venus. He was the father of Ceyx and Daedalion.
