Hercules (Crater)Hercules is a prominent crater located in the northwest part of the Moon, to the east of Atlas crater. It lies along the east edge of a southward extension in the Mare Frigoris. To the west across the mare is the Bürg crater. To the south is the ruined crater Williams. The interior walls of Hercules have multiple terraces, and there is a small outer ramparts. The crater floor has been flooded by lava in the past, and contains several areas of low albedo. The location of a central peak is instead occupied by the 'Hercules G' crater. The small crater 'Hercules E' lies along the southern rim of Hercules. In the past this crater has been reported as the site of some transient lunar phenomenon. Satellite craters By convention these features are identified on Lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Hercules crater. | idth="25%" style="background:#eeeeee;" |Latitude | width="25%" style="background:#eeeeee;" |Longitude | width="25%" style="background:#eeeeee;" |Diameter | | lign="center"|B | align="center"|47.8° N | align="center"|36.6° E | align="center"|9 km | | lign="center"|C | align="center"|42.7° N | align="center"|35.3° E | align="center"|9 km | | lign="center"|D | align="center"|44.8° N | align="center"|39.7° E | align="center"|8 km | | lign="center"|E | align="center"|45.7° N | align="center"|38.5° E | align="center"|9 km | | lign="center"|F | align="center"|50.3° N | align="center"|41.7° E | align="center"|14 km | | lign="center"|G | align="center"|46.4° N | align="center"|39.2° E | align="center"|14 km | | lign="center"|H | align="center"|51.2° N | align="center"|40.9° E | align="center"|7 km | | lign="center"|J | align="center"|44.1° N | align="center"|36.4° E | align="center"|8 km | | lign="center"|K | align="center"|44.2° N | align="center"|36.9° E | align="center"|7 km | The following craters have been renamed by the IAU.
