Henry County, Ohio

Henry County is a county located in the state of Ohio. As of 2000, the population is 29,210. Its county seat is Napoleon6 and is named for Patrick Henry, the Virginian famous for his "give me liberty or give me death" speech.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,088 km² (420 mi²). 1,079 km² (416 mi²) of it is land and 9 km² (3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.83% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 29,210 people, 10,935 households, and 7,960 families residing in the county. The population density is 27/km² (70/mi²). There are 11,622 housing units at an average density of 11/km² (28/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 95.33% White, 0.58% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.56% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. 5.40% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 10,935 households out of which 35.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.10% are married couples living together, 8.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.20% are non-families. 23.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.10. In the county the population is spread out with 27.60% under the age of 18, 8.20% from 18 to 24, 28.10% from 25 to 44, 22.10% from 45 to 64, and 14.00% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 97.60 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.60 males. The median income for a household in the county is $42,657, and the median income for a family is $49,881. Males have a median income of $35,901 versus $24,076 for females. The per capita income for the county is $18,667. 7.00% of the population and 5.30% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.90% of those under the age of 18 and 4.20% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
