Henri Louis Le Chatelier

Henri Louis le Chatelier was an influential chemist of the 19th century (Paris 1850- Miribel-les-Echelles 1936). He was student at the cole polytechnique and at the cole des Mines in Paris. His studies of the principles of chemical equilibrium yielded his famous theory of equilibrium (see Le Chatelier's Principle). He also carried out lost of research about metallurgy. He was one of the founder of the technical newspaper "la revue de mtallurgie". He was appointed as "chevalier" (knight) of the Lgion d'honneur in 1887, became "officier" (officer) in 1908, "commandeur" (Knight Commander) in 1919 and finally "grand officier" (Knight Grand Officer) in 1927.
