Hemus Air

Hemus Air is a Bulgarian airline company, established by the government in 1991 to compete with Balkan Airlines (also government-owned, but which declared bankruptcy in 2002). The company was privitized by Bulgarian corporate investors in 2002 and has since tried to establish itself on the market, facing stiff competition from foreign carriers, as well as the newly-established successor of Balkan AirlinesBulgaria Air. Quite ambitiously, Hemus Air's management has pledged to participate in the privatization process of government-owned Bulgaria Air, but it is unclear as of yet whether it stands much of a chance.
