Helmut Hirsch

Helmut (Helle) Hirsch was an American Jew who at age twenty tried to assassinate Adolf Hitler. He was born on January 27, 1916 and was executed on June 4, 1937 by decapitation. The American Ambassador, William Dodd, tried valiantly to save his life, appealing to Hitler himself. Hitler refused to budge. He was survived by his sister Katie Sugarman.
