Helghast

The Helghast are the main enemy in the FPS Killzone. They have a striking appearance, based on a Fascist army.

Profile

Helghast armour is typically black, with the exception of the Assault Troops wear green armor. They have orange goggles, and almost all have gas masks. They come in several different types:
  • Scout Troops - The weakest of all the Helghast, but also the fastest.
  • Basic Trooper - The most common type of Helghast but rarely found alone or even in pairs.
  • Elite Troops - These appear later in the game and are typically armed with light machine guns and are very strong. They are often found with Basic troopers.
  • Assault Troops - Also appearing later, these are much tougher than Elites but slow moving due to their distinctive armour, which makes them incredibly resistant to damage.
  • Base Commander - These are as strong as an Elite but are very rare, and appear to help raise troop morale.
  • Body Guards - Only seen at the end of the game, the body gaurds are the strongest enemy in the game. They will seek cover when injured and look for opportunities to ambush the player.
  • Robots - These flying gun platforms attack you with dual machinguns. They are not well-armored but can be hard to hit because of their lateral movement. they are encountered begging about half way through the game.

History

It is sometime in the future and humanity has colonised many planets. One group of people, attempt to colonise the world of Helghan. However, the world is extremely desolate and the air scorches the colonists lungs, causes their hair to fall out and their children are often born deformed. In time, the colonists' bodies adapt, allowing them to breath the caustic air. The hardship they have endured has changed them so much, they can be no longer classed as human. They are larger, tougher and harbour a burning hatred for mankind who sent them the Helghan. This hatred led to the first Helghast wars. But the Helghast were beaten and forced back to Helghan. Eventually, a strong leader emerges, Scolar Visari, who convinces the Helghast to take revenge on humanity once more. And so, the invasion is underway, and the first target is an ISA planet called Vecta. The ISA have built a number of defense platforms on several planets. These were designed to stop the Helghast from attacking any planets and were supposed to be foolproof. But as the Helghast attack Vecta, the weapons on the platform malfunction, leaving Vecta open to an attack the citizens were told could never happen.
