Helen Martin

Helen Dorothy Martin (July 23, 1909 - March 25, 2000) was an African American actress of stage and television. Martin was a Broadway actress for many decades, first debuting in the theatre production of Native Son in 1941. She became famous later in life as the wisecracking neighbor Pearl Shay on the television sitcom 227. Martin first appeared on television in the series Baby, I'm Back in 1978, starring alongside former Sanford and Son star Demond Wilson.
