Heinz Winckler

Heinz Winckler (b. March 22, 1978 in Stellenbosch, South Africa) is the winner of the first season of Idols, the South African version of Pop Idol. He studied law at Stellenbosch University. Winckler's debut single, "Once In A Lifetime," went double-platinum in South Africa. He was nominated for two South African Music Awards, including best single for "Once In A Lifetime," and best pop album for One Step Closer. He performed the theme song, "Chasing Shadows," for the Disney movie Treasure Planet. He placed fourth in the inaugural World Idol competition.
