Heinz LeymannI try to summarize my information about this from my study at technical university in munich by Psychology Professor Gerd Weinmann: The word mobbing was used for describing a special behavour of animals in case food becoming poorer and poorer. In monkey groups the females decided which animals have to die. The males are only interested in hierarchy one up and down. The chief is not interested in the weakest, but in his nearest rival. So this one is left in peace. Females react in another way. They regard the whole an in such an economical situation the weakest gets attacked by all females and the females push on the males to support them. The two swedisch maried scientists (the name I cant remember exactly) studied this behavour for diplom and doctors degree at university. After their university time they had to go for work as psychologes in great sweden companies. When economie in sweden was going down around 1975-1980 they had to handle with some cases of poisening atacks (poisended coffee) in companies. They found out that human behavour is in this case similar to animal behavour and transported the word mobbing from animal word to human world.
