Heather French

Heather Renee French won the title Miss America in 2000. A native of Maysville, Kentucky, she is a 1993 graduate of Mason County High School. She married then Kentucky Lt. Governor Steve Henry on October 27, 2000. The couple subsequently had two children. During 2002 and 2003, French served as co-host for the local Louisville morning show Fox In The Morning on WDRB. In 2003, French struck and subsequently killed a German bicyclist, Karola Stede, on Grinstead Drive in Louisville. The accident deeply affected French and she subsequently recounted her story on The Oprah Winfrey Show. On a more positive note, on July 4, 2003 French gave birth to her second daughter, Taylor Augusta, which is perfect timing given that French is executive director of the Heather French Foundation for Veterans, Inc., an organization for the behalf of veterans.
