HaukadalurHaukadalur is a name shared by three valleys in Iceland. Haukadalur, Golden Circle This valley lies to the north of the Laugarvatn in the south of Iceland. There are to be seen some of the most famous sights of the island, the geysers (Strokkur, Geysir) and not far away the waterfall Gullfoss. So the Haukadalur is also part of the Golden Circle, like ingvellir. The biggest geysers of Haukadalur are Strokkur and the Geysir itself which gave others their name. Strokkur is very dependable to have an eruption all 5 to 10 minutes, whereas the bigger Geysir only erupts 4 to 5 times a day. But there are also a lot of other little hot springs nearby. The waterfall Gullfoss is about 10 km to the north in the direction of the Highlands of Iceland and at the beginning of the Kjlur highland road. Haukadalur, Snfellsnes Another valley by the name Haukadalur is existing in the north-west of Snfellsnes. The valley is situated some kilometers to the south of the village Bardalur. There is the former residence of the viking Erik the Red (isl. Eirik Rauur) who discovered Greenland. Haukadalur, Vestfirir A third valley of this name is to be found near ingeyri, in the Westfjords (Vestfirir). See also External links
