Hathersage
is a
village
in the
Derbyshire
Peak District

England
. It lies on the south bank of the
River Derwent
, approximately fifteen kilometres east of
Sheffield
. The village was known until the early
twentieth century
for the manufacture of
needles
and
pins
. The village boasts a station on the
Hope Valley
railway line, a
youth hostel
, and a
mediaeval
church
.
Little John
is said to have been buried in the churchyard. Hathersage lies below
Hathersage Moor
, site of the
Carl Wark
fort
and
Higger Tor
.
