The term handyman (which may be sexist language as a "handyman" may be female), describes someone competent in a variety of small skills or inventive or ingenious in repair or maintenance work; somebody who earns money by the experience and skill to perform a variety of small jobs and/or odd jobs in and around your home. Some handymen have more skills than others and perform more than just a variety of small jobs and odd jobs. A good handyman is skillful, dexterous, practical, clever, skilled, able, competent, and proficient in whatever it is he is doing. Some handymen are licensed and insured, some are not. There are different laws for different states and it is not always required. When looking for a handyman for odd jobs, more than anything, you want to make sure that you have someone you can trust, who does dependable work, and you are comfortable with.
