in the province of
Flemish Brabant
, in
Flanders
, one of the three regions of
Belgium
. The municipality comprises the
city
of Halle proper and the towns of
Buizingen
and
Lembeek
. On January 1, 2004 Halle had a total population of 34,316 (16,702 males and 17,614 females). The total area is 44.40
km²
which gives a
population density
of 772.81 inhabitants per km². The official language is
Dutch
(as everywhere in
Flanders
).
