Halifax Mooseheads

The Halifax Mooseheads are a major junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. They play at the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Their franchise was granted for the 1994-1995 season. The team hosted the Memorial Cup tournament in May, 2000, where they finished in third place. They lost in the Q League Finals in 2003 to the Hull Olympiques. The team was originally owned by Moosehead Breweries, then sold to former NHLer Bobby Smith in 2003. The Mooseheads have been a huge success at the gate, leading the Q League in attendance every season they have been in existence. To date, three former Mooseheads (and current NHLers) have had their numbers retired. They include #25 Jody Shelley, #47 Jean-Sebastien Giguere, and #18, Alex Tanguay.
