Halifax Chebucto

Halifax Chebucto is a Nova Scotian provincial electoral district. It is one of several ridings within the Halifax Regional Municipality. The economy consists mostly of military employment from the local base and retail stores. Since 1998 the MLA has been Howard Epstein of the NDP. Before that Jay Abbass of the Liberals held the seat. In the 1970s the riding was typically won by Liberal candidates. However, during the 1980s the seat was won by future NDP leader Alexa McDonough.
