1. Gynophilia refers to sexual attraction to women, whether it be held by men or women. It is also increasingly used when refering to the sexual orientation of transgender and intersex people, since using homo- or heterosexual is not without problems there. Also, sometimes in the field of sex offender rehabilitation studies, the term gynophilia is used to mean "attraction to adult women", in opposition to pedophilia, with the aim of theraphy often seen as the substitution of gynophilic desires for pedophilic ones. 3. The word gynophilia is also sometimes used to distinguish female homosexuality from male homosexuality. See also: Androphilia
