Gunnar Asplund

Gunnar Asplund was a Swedish architect, mostly known as a major proponent of the modernist style emerging in the early 20th century. His exhibition on the 1930 Stockholm exposition was shocking for the contemporary public. His major works include Stockholm Public Library and Skogskyrkogrden, a cemetary which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Skogskyrkogrden was created between 1917 and 1920 by Asplund and Sigurd Lewerentz.
