Gul Agha Sherzai

Gul Agha Sherzai was the governor of Kandahar province, Afghanistan from December 2001 to August 16, 2003. Sherzai took power in the province at the end of 2001 when he surged into the area with his private army and took control of government offices. His reign as governor ended in August 2003 when President Hamid Karzai decreed that officials could no longer hold both military and civil posts. Sherzai then became a federal minister of urban affairs. Yusuf Pashtun took over gubernatorial power.
