Grindavk

Grindavk is a fishing town at the peninsula of Reykjanes at the south-western coast of Iceland. It is one of the few cities with a harbour at this coast. Most of the 2500 inhabitants are living from the fishing industry. There is an esoteric center in the town. A rather famous Icelandic writer was born here: Gubergur Bergsson. Kalli Bjarni, the first winner of Icelandic version of Pop Idol, lives in Grindavik. UMFG is the towns sport club Some kilometers to the north, there is the so-called Blue Lagoon (is. Bla Lni), a swimming pool using hot and mineralized waters from the near-by power station Svartsengi.
