Green Fertilizer

Green fertilizers are plants that are grown to create fertilization and soil-building to improve agricultural production. Winter cover crops such as oats or rye have long been used in this capacity. More recently, ferns of the genus Azolla have been used as a green fertilizer in southeast Asia. See also: Green Revolution, Nitrogen fixation
