Greek Society Of The Friends Of The Ancients

The Greek Society of the Friends of the Ancients is a group which is devoted to the preservation of Ancient Greek culture. During the 2004 Summer Games in Athens, Greece, they sued over the images of the gods in use as the Games' mascots, claiming that they "savagely insult" ancient Greek mythology. They are demanding €3 million ($3,705,300 USD approximately) and a ban on the images of Athena and Phevos. The claims of the "Society" were taken lightly, as the characters were created with the organizers fullest good intents. Additionally, a search the internet shows that the "Society" had never been mentioned on any site on the Internet before the controversy, creating severe doubts of their activity.
