Gravity Waves

Gravity waves refer to different (but basically similar) concepts.

Dynamics

In fluid dynamics, gravity waves are those generated in a fluid medium (e.g. the atmosphere), when a fluid parcel is displaced by convection to a region with a different density. If the fluid stratification is stable, the parcel will start to oscillate around the point where there is no net force.

Physics

In physics, "gravity waves" are more properly known as gravitational waves, or gravitational radiation. Gravitational waves, predicted by Einstein's theory of relativity, can best be described as ripples in the curvature of spacetime Gravitation, by Misner, Thorne & Wheeler. They are related to gravity, which is described by the curvature of spacetime in Einstein's theory. The proposed quantum of gravitational radiation is the graviton.
