GornniskaIn the fictional Star Trek universe, Gornniska is the home planet of the Gorn and capital of the Gorn Republic. The planet is M-Class with six major metropolises: Khakhh City, Timber City, The Monastaries, Gorn City (a veritable Gorn Mecca), Water City, and Gold City (The Capitol). Industry is space age, pollution is well under control, and most of the planet is reserved parkland. Most Gorn don't live on Gornniska, but rather on the neighboring colony worlds. There are three zones on Gornniska: Volcanic Desert, Rainforest, and Ice Desert. The Gorn evolved in the Temperate Lines, the lines between the Rainforests and Volcanic Deserts. Some races of Gorn expanded to the rainforest and others to the Volcanic Desert. Seaport Cities are mostly found on the beaches of the Volcanic Desert Zones, but a few are on the Rainforst Zones. The one marshland on the Northern Peninsula is home to another sentient race, the Kilkilliet, of whom little to nothing is know except that they were one Gorn and are no longer. The Gorn Republic avoids this area, and entering it is punishable by death. It has heavy planetary defenses including Lasers otherwise outlawed in the rest of the galaxy. No attempt to siege or take Gornniska by anyone has ever succeeded.
