Gnaeus Octavius

Octavius was the consul of 87bc during the Roman Republic. His branch of the Octavii, held the highest offices of state. His is an ancestor to Romes first Emperor Caesar Augustus. For more information of Augustus paternal background refer to Suetonius Augustus Clauses 1-9. In the year of his consulship, he had quarrelled with his colleague. He had driven him out of Rome and replaced him. Octavius was killed later on with his colleague when Marius and Cinna marched to Rome. Plutarch describes his character as reputable.
