Glucose-6-phosphate

Glucose-6-phosphate (G6P) is a phosphorylated glucose molecule on carbon 6. G6P can travel down two metabolic pathways, glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway. The phosphorylation of glucose to lead to G6P is catalyzed with hexokinase enzymes, this consuming one ATP. Its empirical formula is C6H13O9P.
