Globalise Resistance

Globalise Resistance (GR) is a British anti-capitalist alliance that seeks to unite different people in opposition to neo-liberal capitalism and corporate power. It includes a broad range of groups from Christian NGOs campaigning for debt relief to environmentalists opposing GM food, from trade unionists fighting privatisation in their workplaces to students demanding that education be free to all. Globalise Resistance mobilised for the 2001 protests in Genoa that were a key point in the development of the Anti-Capitalist (or Anti-Globalization) movement. It has also been involved in three European Social Forums and demonstrations against the vist of the president of the United States George W. Bush on 21st November 2003. Though Globalise Resistance is formally non-partisan, with a steering committee that has a majority of independents, it has been the subject of a variety of accusations from the anti-capitalist movement. Many feel it is little more than a front group for the Socialist Workers Party.

Steering group

Of the 19 members of GR's steering group, 7 are from the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) and 12 are independent http://www.resist.org.uk/about/steering.php.
