gitanos

The Gitanos are Roma people living in Spain. It name comes from Egiptianos (Egyptians), because in past centuries was thought their origins was in the country of Egypt. Today, however, it's generally considered that their origin is the region of India. Vocally, The gitano characterize the flamenco by giving precendence of emotion over text, with emotional outburts and extended vowels. This is typical of Gypsy song in general.
