Giant Robot (Magazine)

Giant Robot Magazine is an Asian-American pop culture magazine founded by Eric Nakamura and Martin Wong in 1994 as a small punk-minded zine that covered a variety of Asian-American alternative culture from music, movies, history, toys, technology, to food and skateboarding. The publication went from a small xeroxed stapled-and-folded zine format to it's current full color quarterly format. They were one of the earliest American publications to feature prominent Asian movie stars from Chow Yun Fat to Jackie Chan, as well as Asian musicians from indie and punk bands. The magazine is also popular for their creative t-shirts and odd toys. In the late 90's they opened two Giant Robot stores in Los Angeles and later one in San Francisco.
