Gianna Beretta Molla

Gianna Beretta Molla (October 4, 1922 - April 28, 1962) was an Italian pediatrician who is best known for refusing an abortion to end her pregnancy, despite warnings that having her child could kill her. She died one week after delivering her child. She was canonized by Pope John Paul II on May 16, 2004.
