Ghost Ring

The ghost ring sight is a type of firearm sight consisting of a large front blade and a large diameter, thin rear aperture. The thin rear ring blurs into the "ghost" when the shooter's eye focuses on the front sight (which is where focus should be) thus giving the sight its name. The ghost ring sight is fairly accurate, easy to use, and obscures the target less than nearly all other non-optical sights. Because of this, ghost ring sights are typically found on military, police, and self defense firearms of all types--pistols, rifles, and shotguns. The ghost ring is a fairly recent innovation, and differs from traditional aperture sights in the extreme thinness of the rear ring, and the slightly thicker front sight.
