Get Serious

A term made famous in the 70's cult classic film "Pumping Iron", to get serious refers to pushing yourself to intense levels in physical training. One can obtain a "serious" state of body and mind by performing a higher number of repetitions in a given exercise or by increasing the amount of weight used. Getting serious is usually accompanied by an increased heart rate, increased levels of assertiveness, and stunning gains in physical performance. The getting serious idealology can be transcribed to every aspect of life, and typically yields a positive effect overall on those who follow the doctrine.
