George ThorogoodGeorge Thorogood (born December 31, 1951) is a blues-rock and rock and roll performer. In 1974, he cut with his debut album called Better Than the Rest and released it. By autumn 1976, he cut with his second album called George Thorogood and recorded it with his band called The Destroyers and issued the album in 1977. Thorogood cut with his next called Move It On Over in 1978 with The Destroyers and released it in autumn with their best hits called "Move It On Over" in 1978 and also "Please Set A Date" and "Who Do You Love" were both in 1979. During the 1980s, and 1990s, his popular songs and albums included Bad To The Bone, "I Drink Alone" (from his Maverick album), You Talk Too Much, and If You Don't Start Drinking, I'm Gonna Leave. George Thorogood is known for his stage presence and loud, raucous guitar playing. George Tidbits In the late '70s George loved working out, cigars, pro wrestling, and baseball. Especially baseball. At that time there was a semi-pro baseball league in Delaware and George formed a team to play in this league. He started himself at second base and was chosen rookie of the year in the league. Soon after the band made him quit. George and the Delaware Destroyers were friends with Jimmy Thackery and the Nighthawks. During this period in the '70s, the Destroyers and the Nighthawks were playing in Georgetown (DC) in venues across from each other. By prior arrangements, George and Jimmy met in the middle of the street, exchanged guitars and went and played with each other's bands. This was verified by Jimmy in a chance meeting early in this century in Asheville, NC. Perhaps George and the Destroyer's greatest feat was undertaken after leading off on some of the Stone's tour in 1981. After two gigs in Boulder Colorado, George and the band flew to Hawaii and played for one night. Next day they flew to Alaska and played that night. The following day they flew to Washington State, met their roadies who had their Checker car and a truck and continued a one night stand in 50 states in 50 nights.
