George Edward Cryer

George Edward Cryer (18751961) was a U.S. political figure. He served as mayor of Los Angeles between 1921 and 1929. He was known to be the figurehead for the infamous Crawford organized crime syndicate, which essentially ruled Los Angeles politics between 1921 and 1928. The mob, which included such figures as Charlie Crawford, Guy "Stringbean" McAfee and Marco Albori, ran prostitution and gambling rackets throughout Southern California.
