George Boyd

George Boyd, one of a family of nine, was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Predominantly a playwright, Boyd has written in many other genres, including radio, television and motion pictures. In 2000, his play, Consecrated Ground, was nominated for a Governor General's Award for drama. Consecrated Ground, a teleplay, was first published in 1996 by Stage Hand Publishers along with Gideon's Blues, in a volume titled Two, By George!. Both Consecrated Ground' and Gideon's Blues are now published separately by Talonbooks of Vancouver, British Columbia. Other plays include, Shine Boy and his most recent, Wade In The Water. Produced by the Black Theatre Workshop of Montreal in 2004, Wade In The Water garnered Boyd a nomination for the Montreal English Critics Circle Award (MECCA). Mr. Boyd currently resides in Montreal, where his works-in-progress include a new play for the stage as well as work on an original screenplay. Boyd, George Elroy
