Gene Amondson

Gene Amondson (b. 1943 in Morton, Washington) was the 2004 U.S. presidential candidate for one faction of the Prohibition Party. The other faction had nominated perennial candidate Earl Dodge. Both candidates were on the ballot in Colorado, so the race between the two was seen by some as way of determining which faction will lead the party in the future. Amondson won this contest, collecting 378 votes compared to Dodge's 140. However, Amondson placed well behind both major candidates (George W. Bush received 1.1 million votes, and John Kerry received over 1 million votes), and performed poorly even among "third party" candidates, placing eighth in a slate of 12 presidential candidates on Colorado's ballot.
