Gendernym

A gendernym is a word that expresses a concept that does not actually exist in English. In a language in which words are classified by gender, such as Romance languages, a gendernym is a pair of words that are the same, except having different genders. An example of this in Spanish would be the words esposo and esposa. The first word, gendered masculine, means husband, while the second word, gendered feminine, means wife. The two words are identical, except for their gender. Such words could be referred to, in English, as "gendernyms." Related links: synonym, homonym, antonym.
