Gateway Bridge, Brisbane

The Gateway Bridge is the first crossing of the Brisbane River. It crosses the river at the Quarries Reach, in between Eagle Farm and Hemmant. It was opened on 11th January, 1986. The bridge provides three lanes of traffic in each direction, and is an integral part of the Gateway Motorway which skirts the eastern side of Brisbane city. A multi-billion dollar duplication of the existing bridge has been announced. An indentical twin will be built next to the current structure.
