Garth TurnerGarth Turner (born 1949) is a Canadian business journalist, broadcaster, author and former politician. Turner was business editor at the Toronto Sun and the author of several books proferring investment advice before he entered politics. Turner was elected as a Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament in the 1988 election. He was a candidate at the 1993 Progressive Conservative leadership convention, and placed fourth on the first ballot, with 76 votes. He was appointed Minister of National Revenue in the short-lived cabinet of Kim Campbell. Turner lost his seat in the 1993 election when the PC Party was reduced from a majority in the Canadian House of Commons to only two seats. Turner has since returned to communications, working as a broadcaster and writing several more books of investment advice. His work in both roles has not been without controversy: notably the CBC television investigative journalism series Disclosure aired a report in 2002, "Paying for Time", exposing his Millenium Media Television programs as sometimes unattributed quasi-infomercials.
